About Pastors' Safe Place
Our Mission
Our mission is to serve pastors and the churches they lead through marriage counseling, conflict coaching and shared resources.
Pastors' Safe Place is built on these convictions:
First, the most important work being done in every community is being done by the Church and by those who lead it.
Second, armed with a deep desire to serve Christ, pastors sacrificially function in their communities as the first person to whom people turn for help. They become the only "safe place" some people have to turn to for counsel, wisdom, guidance. And yes, people come to them to share their hurts and confess their sins.
But here's the question. Where is a pastor and his wife to turn that is "safe"? By "safe" I mean neutral and confidential. Nothing they share will ever be repeated or placed in their "file" and used against them. Pastors and their spouses need a "safe place" to share their "stuff" with a competent and caring counselor or coach. If you are a pastor or spouse reading this, you've come to a truly "safe place". At Pastors' Safe Place we use encrypted, HIPAA secure email and video conferencing.
Third, most pastors do not have a safe place to go. Should they turn to a close friend in their church? Should they turn to their church or denominational leaders? Some have and have suffered the consequences. Pastors and their spouses need a sounding board, counselor, coach that functions outside their written or invisible "chain-of-command".
Ed Riddick knows first hand the dangers spiritual leaders face in ministry. He served 3 churches as solo and lead pastor (6, 10 and 22 years). During this time he successfully planted 4 churches. He holds a ThM from Dallas Seminary, a Masters in Counseling from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School, and a Masters in Dispute Resolution from Marquette University (M.D.R.). He is a Certified Anger Management Specialist (CAMS-2). Ed is a Board Certified Christian Counselor by the AACC.
Pastors' Safe Place is dedicated to being a confidential "safe place" to which pastors and their families can turn for help.
